Introduction
The 7Hz Legato is a distinctive dual-dynamic-driver IEM designed for listeners who want a warm, powerful, and bass-focused sound rather than a strictly neutral presentation. Featuring a large 12mm dynamic driver for the low frequencies and a 6mm dynamic driver for the midrange and treble, the Legato takes a very different approach from many balanced or detail-oriented IEMs in its price range.
Its biggest strength is the bass. The Legato delivers deep sub-bass, strong mid-bass impact, and a substantial sense of physical weight. Kick drums, bass guitars, electronic music, cinematic effects, and game soundtracks can sound particularly immersive. The low end is not simply boosted for quantity; the large dynamic driver also provides a convincing sense of scale and body. However, this emphasis can affect the lower midrange, making some recordings sound warmer and thicker than they would on a more neutral IEM.
The midrange is generally full and smooth, with male vocals and instruments such as guitars and bass benefiting from the added body. Female vocals can sound pleasant but are less forward and airy than on brighter competitors. Treble is the Legato's clearest trade-off. It is smooth and relaxed, which makes the IEM comfortable for long listening sessions, but listeners who enjoy sparkling highs, strong upper-frequency detail, or a large sense of air may find it somewhat dark.
The CNC-machined aluminum shell gives the Legato a solid feel, although its relatively large size may not suit smaller ears. It is also easy to drive, so a powerful desktop amplifier is unnecessary; a decent phone output or USB dongle DAC is enough for most users.
Overall, the 7Hz Legato is best suited to listeners who prioritize bass impact, warmth, and relaxed treble. It is less suitable for those seeking neutral tuning, bright vocals, or highly analytical high-frequency detail.
